Steens Rim Run & Walk

Course Info: The race starts on the Steens Mountain Loop Road
near Jackman Park campground and finishes at the East Rim Overlook. The
10K course follows the east rim of the Steens Mountain, passing the head
waters of both Fish Creek and the Little Blitzen. As you run along the
rim's edge, a number of high mountain views will make the run a
memorable experience. The race offers a tremendous challenge starting at
an elevation of 7,835 feet and finishing above 9,700 feet. Come and
challenge the mountain with all of us at the 22nd Steens Rim Run &
Walk, Chris Miller Memorial...see you at the start!
Directions: From Burns, Oregon, travel South on Highway 205
for approximately 60 miles until you reach Frenchglen, Oregon. From
Frenchglen, take the Steens Mountain Loop Road (north) for approximately
18-19 miles until you reach the starting line.
(Water, restrooms, and complimentary fruit, beverages, and
photos will be available for race participants. Awards will be
distributed immediately following the race. Participants should be
prepared for all weather types - very warm AND very cool conditions are
likely to occur during the race, especially with the changes in
elevation (rain, wind, and snow are also possibilities)...come prepared
and ready to run!)
