Rockets Blacktop Battle
Attention Houston Rockets fans: Can you hoop? Do you think you’re the best in H-town? Well, if your answer is yes, then gather a group of friends and come out to the Rockets Blacktop Battle 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament presented by Amerigroup on Saturday, March 3, 2007, and Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Toyota Center (1510 Polk St., Houston, TX 77002). We’re looking for basketball players ages 8 and up to compete. Divisions will be based on age, gender, and experience. On Saturday and Sunday, March 3rd and 4th, the streets outlining Toyota Center will transform into a streetball haven with over 40 courts and 300 teams participating. Blacktop Battle will showcase the best basketball players on the streets of H-Town. An entry fee of $99.00 is charged per team of 3-4 players. A 5th player is optional, however the registration fee is increased to $125.00 per team. Each player will receive one ticket to the March 11th Rockets vs. Orlando game with an opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discounted price and a player pack containing a T-shirt and other offers presented by supporting sponsors. Teams are guaranteed 3 games. The first round is pool play, where each team in a bracket will play each other. The winning teams from round robin will move on to the single elimination championship bracket. The day’s activities don’t end with just basketball. There will be an interactive kid’s zone with inflatables, food, and entertainment. Supporting sponsors will have activity booths set up, and the main court at center stage will host several contests such as a RBK Dunk contest, 3-point shootout, and a kid’s skills clinic. Fans will also enjoy appearances from the Houston Rockets Power Dancers and Launch Crew. Low on funds and don’t want to pay the $99 entry fee? Teams will be given two (2) opportunities to compete for FREE on different weekends before the actual event. The winners at each qualifier will NOT have to pay an entry fee for the main event at Toyota Center on March 3rd and 4th. Please Note: You do not have to compete in a qualifier to participate on March 3rd and 4th at Toyota Center. The qualifiers serve only as a way for teams to try and get the registration fee waived.
